The CALACS is a non-profit organization registered under the third part of the Quebec Companies Act. It is also recognized as a charity. The Center was implanted en 1990 in order to respond to the following objectives:
Offer help services to women, 14 years and over who are victims of sexual assault.
Promote the rights and defend the interests of women and children regarding the problem of sexual assault.
Make the population aware of the problem of sexual assault and how to prevent it.
Ensure and maintain community participation, promote and encourage activism.
Consolidate and develop the network of Calacs in the North Shore communities. This development should be done in respect of the autonomy of community organizations and according to three components: support, advocacy and prevention.
